Former PopCap Studio Art Director Hired to Lead First Game’s Creative Direction
WildTangent, one of the world’s largest games distributors, is now developing mobile games out of its new Seattle office in the heart of Pioneer Square. The first mobile game—an update from the popular Polar Bowler PC game will be available this fall. Former PopCap Studio Art Director Rick Schmitz joined WildTangent to oversee art direction for this game and others which will be available on multiple mobile platforms.
Millions of people have played the original Polar Bowler franchise of games over the past decade. The mobile game will have all new game mechanics and the polar bear will be accompanied by his trusty penguin butler. More information about the game will be revealed to Polar Bowler fans later this summer.
“The time is right for us to create a mobile studio,” said Executive Vice President of Product Development Matt Shea. “We have a number of games already in the queue and will be aggressively hiring to add to our existing talent pool already on board.”
