Weekly Tangent – A Terrible Confession

I have a terrible confession to make – I’m not a football fan.

I don’t watch the games. I don’t know the rules.

family watching sports on tv

Okay, okay… they’re not wearing Seahawks jerseys, but this photo features the most important thing to me about football – SNACKS.

I DO like the food that’s associated with watching football, though. Like Thanksgiving and nachos. Mmmmm.

Apparently, our home team is going to the Super Bowl.

The funny thing is that this makes me really, really happy.

For someone who isn’t a football fan, why would this be?

It’s because of what it’s doing to our city.

There’s a vibe and an energy from everyone. Excitement fills the hallways at work. Cheers fill my Facebook news feed. Team flags fly from houses, cars and even the Space Needle.

The city is united.

In a town known for its chilly politeness, this is a big deal.

And, I love it.

Go Hawks.

Tangentially,
Mari

I don’t know much about football (or is it socker?) either. Then again, that isn’t one of the sports we participate in on Vulcan. ;)

I too indulge in snacks. So much so that I really need to go on an extended diet. I tried the seafood diet but that didn’t seem to help much.

I guess I should have specified American Football! :)

By the way, I’m eating chips right now…

I realized you meant American Football but I must plead ignorance of certain cultural imperatives if I am to maintain my Internet facade … ;)

Ha! It was still a valid point, though. :)

Of course it was. I am nothing if not logical. In fact, you should see some of the reactions I get when I respond to EXACTLY what is posted rather than what is to be assumed to what was MEANT …

Someone posted, “You shouldn’t text and drive people!”

    My response …

“And here I thought she was driving a car …”
