Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

I decided to collect some fun facts and trivia about this very green holiday.

Saint Patrick’s Day Parades aren’t actually Irish. They started in New York!

For over 40 years, Chicago has dyed its river green on March 17th. And, it all started with a plumber looking for a waste leak!
The color green became associated with this day because of the Shamrock legend, the Irish flag and the name “The Emerald Isle.” Apparently, before Saint Patrick’s Day was green, it may have been blue!
Why do we pinch people who don’t wear green? To remind them to avoid the mischief of the mythical leprechauns, of course. (This one was totally new to me!)

I thought those little facts were very interesting!

Have a happy Saint Patrick’s Day, everyone!

Tangentially,
Mari

Our oldest daughters birthday is on St. Patrick’s day. I’m wondering if we should have named her Patricia?
